Default 80E stall

I searched and couldnt find anything that answered my question. (If I missed something just link me there plz.) How high of a stall should I get for my 80? The truck is going to stay NA and might run it at the track a 1/2 dozens times a year for fun. Stock 3.73's and all that junk. Its not my daily driver but I do have spurts where Ill drive it a week straight then park it for a little while. I was thinking 2800, thoughts?

i have a circleD 3600 converter for my 80e... I love it and it is alot of fun when you want it to be and it can be tame when you want it to be as well.

Also switching from an 60e with stock TC to a 80 with a 3600, i only lost 1mpg, when i drive normally, that is about 50/50 city/highway too.... BUT if you play alot with it like i have the last week or so the MPG goes down.

I can brakestall my stock 80E converter to 2600
it would go 3100 with the turbo and 6psi..

but its stinkin heavy.
I think a 2600-3000 would be in the neighborhood of what you need.
Call Chris @ circleD and talk it over with him, you might learn a thing or two that will help you decide.

+1 for calling Chris to see what his thoughts are for what you are looking to do. I love working with them on projects I get involved in and they have not let me down yet!

If you want any semblance of N/A performance at the track with the 4l80e you'll will need a pretty moderate stall. It does not come out of the hole well at all compared to the 4l60e.

Are you running that 228 on the stock stall?

Also, did you put on the 799 heads at the same time as the cam? I'm curious what peoples impressions are of the difference between the 317 and the 243 when thats the only change. I plan on doing that change soon but I'm looking for a little reassurance before I pull the trigger.

My setup is totally different then yours but I've got 2600-2800 circle d 1a stall and it will brake stall to at least 3600. It is pretty tame on the street unless I'm trying to be quiet and truck doesn't want to move haha
