Cleaning up the new transmission and doing some measuring. Trying to find published lengths. I am terrible at measuring things.
Overall length of the 4l80e from bell housing to the transfer case mount. 28.5". 4l65E measured @ 26.875" This equates to 1.625" longer for the 80e or 41.275mm. This matches what Howard says he shortened his DS to.
What is surprising is the length to the transmission mount. I see where 2wd cross members are being changed by 6" or better. Hard to measure but I only see about a 2" difference here.

Ordered the transfer case input shaft. Probably go to the dealer and order the rest of small parts next week.
Got to looking at the big connector. Apparently when they disconnected it they pulled out the internal green portion of it. I had a spare here and slid it in. However the whole connector is not locked into the transmission. I can push it all the way into the transmission if I wanted. Should this connector be locked into the transmission?

Yep...just checked a pic I have of it. It has about 8 locking tabs on the connector where it pushes through the hole from inside the trany.
Not such a good pic....can't upload more than 100K .jpg.

Yes I see the locking tabs but hey don't extend out far enough to lock it. Maybe the o-ring has been pushed back into the trans and won't allow it to lock. Gonna have to pull the pan to do the shift kit so I'll check it then.

Probably the last pages...I made the engine/trany stand, however...I did make a support post for the output shaft to rest on.
