Default 80e Transgo HD -2 question

Getting ready to install the complete Transgo kit in my 80e and I'm already stuck. Installing the Intermediate Snap ring. Direct quote from the instructions.
"Install new thicker snap ring. This is the last snap ring that goes in case. Stops wear on the lugs which reduces lug blowout."

I would call the last snap ring in the case, right under the pump, the 4th clutch snap ring. I would say the intermediate ring would be the first one in the case. Guess it depends on which way you look at it.

Which one is it?

I am guessing that it would be the ring that holds the first set of clutches you come to.

If i remember correctly the pump comes out, 4th gear clutch bolt comes out then pull out the forward clutch, and remove and replace the intermediate snap ring.

the ring is the last one in the case as you go in from the pump (making really the first). You will have to remove the pump, all the way through to the direct clutch. Vince of flt also says to install it 180* from what the book calls for. instead of 9 O'clock install it at 3 O'clock.

Just to confirm. The trango HD snap ring goes here. Right above the intermediate clutch pack. With the Open end of the snap about 180* from where the factory is in this picture.

Since this is on the transgo thread.... the second thing to do deep in the trans, is to change out the intermediate springs.

The internet is great. Can't remember who's thread I saw this in but THANKS!

Back together with the new springs!

Did half of the pump mod last night. Drilled the big hole. Wow. Basically doubling the hole size and a scary thing to do with a hand drill. Went to do the hole in the other half of the pump. Who in the hell keeps a 3/64" drill bit laying in their box?
