9.5" 14-Bolt 5-Link Rear Swap
#41
As for the gears and differential, it does have the Gov-Loc in it with 3.42 ratio gears...which is what my oem gearing was. I was happy the ratio when the Yukon was my DD, but changed to the 3.90 when I did the Auburn LSD thinking it would give me the best of both worlds--decent RPM at freeway speeds (around 2100 at 70mph, IIRC) as well as good launches and a good RPM at the traps. The trap RPM was not exactly where I wanted it but figured that I would dial that in with drag radial diameter once I had optimized the horsepower.
I'm curious as to how tough the 9.5" 14-bolt Gov-Loc is and think that I will run that with the 3.42 gears until it either gives out or my "cash cow" starts giving milk again--at which point I'll swap to a TrueTrac and lower gearing. Gear options are much more limited than the 10-bolt, with 3.73 & 4.10 being my "reasonable" alternatives. I will likely go with the 4.10...3.73 is too small of a change to make it worth while.

So it has the 4.10/4.11 gear in it instead of the 3.42? If so that's really cool. The 9.5" Gov-Lock is fairly tough due to it's size. As long as you're carefull with it that thing should outlast your Auburn in the 10 bolt. If you are at the track make 100% sure that both tires are in the water before you start the burnout and if one side happens to unlock at any time while they are spinning, let up right away. That is a big killer to a Gov-Lock.

U-Joint Straps
As previously mentioned, the 9.5" 14-bolt has a 1350 yoke. It requires different u-joint straps: part number GM 3920486.
Bolts (4 req) are part number GM 14018700.
Fortunately, my local dealer has them on the shelf.

Update...
Hi guys...time for an update.
First, let me state that the 9.5" 14-bolt that I received was reported to be from a 2007 Escalade ESV, and I have no reason to believe otherwise. However, I did not see the vehicle it came from and have no way to verify this.
The complete axle was a direct bolt in to my 2001 Yukon. All mechanical mounting points for trailing arms, panhard rod, coil spring perches, etc. fit perfectly. The only issue that I have requiring fabrication is the brake lines have different size fittings and the 2001 emergency brake cable bracket does not work with the newer design.
New custom brake lines should be here in 3-days, and were working on a good bracket design to fab up.
These are small items and I'm very pleased with the fact that I didn't have to fab anything on the mounting.
