So does this mean that the new suburban w/ the 6.0 also has a 14 bolt (9.5") rear end in it? I've always wondered if the 6.0s came with?

Minor set back and update...

The BAD news: After delaying since the end of October, the shop where I was having the Yukon worked on has decided not to do business any longer!

The GOOD news: Rick at Synergy will be continuing with the project as soon as the other shop delivers it. Rick has a fairly good knowledge of the Yukon as he has done excellent work on it in the past, and I look forward to working with Rick again to get the new 14-bolt installed correctly, and to wring the most out the new 383/MP122HH!

Still counting on the info I got earlier from Randy's Ring & Pinion for my application...

That should be no problem once we get the truck to Synergy. I'm sure Rick will not only get the rearend set up pronto, but find that missing power as well. Plenty of get together opportunities this year!

BUT, getting it to Rick has the biggest challenge at the moment. The shop (now out of business) that has it has been difficult to work with. Been trying to get both of my Yukon & my GTO (which he has had since Mar 07) to Rick since end of November...he was supposed to haul them there on 1/19 but was a "no show/no call". It has been rescheduled for this Monday, 2/2...fingers are crossed.

Default Update!

Rick (Synergy Motorsports) informed me that the 9.5" 14-bolt swap into the Yukon has been completed. According to Rick, it did not require NEW brake lines...the existing lines bolted up. He did have to fabricate brackets for the parking brake. I have asked if he could take some picks of the fabrication and completed work, but he is running a business...so if he doesn't have time I will take plenty and post up when it gets back home. This is really a very straight forward swap for this application.

I had installed an Auburn Pro-Series LSD and 3.90 gears in the oem 10-bolt maybe 10k miles before I broke it last September--it had maybe twenty 1/4-mile passes and the rest was easy commute miles. The new 14-bolt has 3.42 with the oem Gov-Loc posi. So, Rick is checking the tune to ensure it is safe, running a baseline dyno and then I'll take it to the track again to get some baseline 1/4-mile passes at the earliest opportunity.

Then we (Rick & I) will start chasing down the "missing power" that I posted in this THREAD. REALLY looking forward to this!

I think you're on the right path to getting the results you wanted. I will say that bolting in a rear end is by far better than fabbing one up. Shouldn't have to worry that something is off. The 9.5" gov-lock is even a ton stronger than the 8.6" is. Just make sure that when you heat the tires that both lock in. If they don't let up real quick.

By some remote chance the 14 bolt Gov Loc does go boom, Hit me up, I have a few w/3:73 gears stashed away. Since I am not to far away, you can come over and pick out what you want if you'd like.
