Well, with an iron 5.7L and a Kenne Bell 2.6L on top of it (that's the thinking thus far), I want to stop as easily as I go. That means Brembo or Wilwood I believe.

I thought 10.5" means FF while 9.5" means SF...do I understand this correctly?

That is correct to the best of my knowledge. The 2500 and 1500HD have the 9.5" 14 bolt semi floating rear and the 2500HD and 3500 have the 10.5" 14 bolt full floating rear. The problem is all of these axles are 8 lug applications. My '03 has discs on the rear. I am not sure what the newer ones have or when they added discs to the rear.

the break down goes like this for 8 lug applications

all have 14 bolt rear covers

the 9.5" had is SF found in 1500HD/2500 with 6L/4L80E
the 10.5" is FF, found on 2500HD's with the 6L/4L80E
the 11.5" is FF, found in 2500HD's/3500 with 8.1L/Duramax/Allison

the older and newer 6 lug applications complicate the mix a little bit

Cool! Someone told me a while back that it was a semi-floater, but I thought the flanges on the hubs let the axles slide out

A 10.5" 14-bolt can be converted to non-floating with custom ends and custom shafts. I originally had mine built for 5-lug wheels, more recently I changed all 4 corners to 6-lug. Discs are available for the conversion - they are the same ones that fit 12-bolt rears that originally had JB6 11" drums. I went with drums.

Should I? I've heard horror stories of Baer systems squealing, which would drive me crazy after dropping that much coin.
