Default '97 4l80?

will a 1997 4l80 trans work in my 2001 silverado?

i of course know about all the swap crap, just making sure itll work and i dont need to find a newer one

It will work however I like to use a 99 and later unit behind an ls1 engine. The reason being ls1's have a both hole at the 12 o'clock position and you will find that the 97 unit will not have this. I like it for structural reasons I guess is what I'm saying. Vince

but except for that one hole at the very top it will work just fine?
