99-00 6.0 4l60e help please!!!
I just got taught a lesson about trying to bolt a 4l60e Trans to a 99 lq4.
I have a Yank converter could I have a backing plate changed to offset the 1/2" difference between in the crank on the 99-00 lq4? Or what would be wrong with having a custom 1/2" spacer plate made to give me the clearance I need to make the 4l60e bolt up with longer bolts? The only real problem I see could be needing to take a 1/2" out of the drive shaft to compensate for the extra length in front but not sure were to go from here. I could use the 99-00 lq4 starter and then that should give me the proper offset to the fly wheel.I don't see why having a custom spacer made from 1/2" plate wouldn't work? Or can Yank make me a converter backing plate to make up the difference? I 've read many threads saying they won't work together but has anyone really tried a bell housing spacer? I could take the bell housing off trace the outside and inside with all the bolt locations and sandwich the 1/2" plate between the engine and trans to make up the difference in the longer crank. Ive got alot of money in my Yank and 4l60e to make it live, any idea short of starting over with an 80?
