99-07 4WD Front Coilover Conversion
#274
For all you guys here that have swapped spring rates, I'm looking to play with spring rates from 1000-1200. If you have any left overs please PM. I have 850's right now but I'm sure they are going to be a bit too soft.

Anyone that is lowered and has finished their coilover conversion care to share their spring rate and ride/handling characteristics in detail?
My truck 03 awd is far from running. I finished the coilover conversion with qa1 ds303’s, 8” 850 springs, all new ball joints and all new Energy Suspension bushings. Center of the wheel hub is 17” from the fender lip. I’m not a big boy but pushing down on my front bumper there is no movement what so ever. I know the entire set up needs to settle. Just looking for opinions on ride quality. I was under the impression that 850 spring rate was too soft for the weight of this truck.

850s should be fine if not a little light for that weight truck. Spring rate is determined by a couple things, shock travel, vehicle weight, ride height, desired handling, etc. These trucks generally like anywhere from 650 for lifted guys that want it on a cloud to 1200 or so for lowered guys that want really good handling.
