I'm keeping my 16" stock rims. Hopefully it will clear. I think I read somewhere here the 17" minimum rim was related to the front calipers only on the GMT900 and later?

Other difference is the 2KX has independent rear wheel speed sensors in each side. Won't run those.

Has anyone done this?
That may be the AXN axle. It has the diff of the 9.5 with the outers of the 8.6. In other words, it has more torque rating, not necessarily load rating.

So just to clarify, I was correct when I said they wouldn't swap directly

The guy said it came from a 2015 truck. It's got "9.5" stamped on the side of the differential. Is that what that axle is called?

I thought the AXN was from the GMT900?

It's got 3.73. I had already gotten my ECU reflashed for 4.10s, hoping that's what I would run. I think 3.73s will still be okay.

The "AXN" rear axle started on the 2005 GMT800 platforum

Nope! You are still wrong. It will swap directly. You will just be slightly out of spec on the alignment.

Lol ok. It's a "direct" swap that you have to buy more parts to "properly" install

Well, at this point it looks like I'm going to install the AXN axle instead because it seems easier. I also picked up some 2500HD leaf springs. Im not a big fan of the soft 3 leaf pack springs. They are way too soft for my liking when adding a good load to the rear.

I would have still prefered the 14 bolt 10.5 because of the 4.10s and the extra set of PTO wheels I have.

I'm a little nervous doing the brake lines and the bleeding procedure. I did help my brother swap a 14 bolt 6 lug into his '90 C1500.
