Default Actual VS advertised stall speed??

Well I finally have the truck running as it should. Mods include a 62-1 FM turbo, 4L80 with a Circle D triple disk 258mm converter that is advertised to stall at 3000-3200 rpm. So I went out last night to make a couple of 4WD timed 0-60 runs to see how things are going.

Leaving at full boost (12#'s) on the brake I saw a max converter slip of 3900+ rpm. Is this normal? I was expecting to see 3200-3400 rpm due to the torque of the turbo but nearly 4000 seems a little on the high side. Chris at circle D has been a TREAT to work with and a company that I am very happy to do business with. I just wanted some additional opinions before I take any of his time.

P.S. The first 0-60 was 4.86 and the 2nd was 4.94. I am very pleased about this since the truck is a full weight 00 X-cab Z71 with 285's and stock 3.73's.

Not to worry there, I will be happy to help. 3900 is a bit higher than we were shooting for. That is sometimes how FI setups are. Very tricky to work with on the torque curve. Getting a full 12 Lbs of boost sounds very nice and makes the truck easy to launch. How does it drive on the street? Keep me updated.

Chris,
It is a little looser than I was expecting on the street but it is nothing that is not managable. My little 62-1 doesn't need it to be that loose as it is fully spooled at 2400 rpm. I have it locking starting in 2nd and that helps out a lot. I am going to hook up a boat (4000-4500 lbs) this weekend and work on getting a good tow/haul tune going on it. I will keep playing with it through this week and weekend and keep you posted.

Side note: I am tuning a customers 08 G8 GT with CNC'ed heads/cam, 150 shot and one of your converters. Should be a fun sedan

I have the 10.5" 2800 single disk Circle D with the 4l80e and normal non boosted driving, its about a 22-2400, but brake boosting to about 8-9psi, I can push it out to about 3300. Just about right for me.

That's about what I was shooting for, I think this is a little looser than what I need but need to do some more tuning to see how things work out.

Kyle, thanks again for the manifold and wonderful service, both you and Chris (oddly the only to that have posted) have been FANTASTIC to work with!! The truck is coming together quite nice.

Chris,
If this ends up being a little to much to tame I will call and we can discuss some options. Or I will just have to build a bigger turbo/cam setup to move the powerband up a bit

There, now three have posted

But yes, Chris at Circle-D definitely takes great care of his customers, I can vouch for that I've never bought anything from Kyle, but I know how helpful he is here at PT.net, and have heard nothing but great things...keep up the good work guys!
