Default Advice on Gear Selection......

I have a G80 3.42 that came stock stock with my 99 Silverado. My buddy owes me a favor and is going to install for free.

Question is which ratio to go with it's between 4.10's or 4.30's

Will the 4.10's or 4.30's fit on the 3.42 carrier? Not replacing the carrier if I don't have to.

My tire size on the street is 30.5" and I run 28" slicks at the track.

5.3
10.5 comp. Lightly Ported 862 heads

I think 4.10's is the way to go after more researching.

4:30's here.. I went from 3:73's to 4;30's. I'd get rid of the g80. Most of the time when they go out, they take the trans with them

man just save a little more money if you need to and swap the g80 now while your in there. better to do it now than to have it break and there go your new gears and possible more. as for ratio selection, do you dd? any plans for a power adder in the future?

Slicks+G80=

Swap the carrier while you're already in there.

I have been looking on ebay for a new carrier I might pull the trigger now.

I think 4.10's will still be good to add spray later on?

Oh yeah, 4.10's will leave plenty of rpm for spray.

Look up Ron's Machining Services. He's also a sponsor here, and has a thread going.

Yes, 4.10s and spray would work.
