It depends on how built the converter as well as how much power you are putting out.

If its stock, Of course its gonna feel like crap. It's gonna feel sluggish down low.

I also prefer a really tight converter and a direct correlation between pedal movent and power. Hence my power adder choice.

I just got my pro edge 3600 installed along with built transmission and I like it a lot. Yes if I am less than 30% TPS it takes a bit more rpm to get going but if I increase the throttle steadily , it picks up nicely. I enjoy the fact that I can barely feel it shift under light throttle. I took out all the TM completely and I can still barely feel it shift when shifting around 2600-3000 rpm. When I had some TM still in it (~40% removed i think) it was even less noticeable when shifting . because I am accelerating at a slightly higher rpm (300-400rpm i think) , my truck is noticeably louder. ESPECIALLY in my parking garage. I park two floors underground and I can no longer climb the levels without being extremely loud - exhaust echoing like crazy in the cement structure. It climbs up the levels at 2k rpm and I bet everyone hates me that lives on the side of the building with the exit if i have to leave

EDIT: PS - maybe its the difference between you having a loose stall vs having a tighter stall. My understanding is that you can have a , for example, a 3600 stall that is loose and another that is tight. tight being better for city driving and loose is better for the strip. I got my converter 2nd hand and it was advertised as a tight 3600 . This is part of the reason why I got it. Looser stalls would require much more part throttle to get off the line in city driving

I have had 4 diffetent TCs over the years. Ranging from 3000 to 4000. Honestly they never bothered me. Yeah at times slightly annoying but fun when you hit the loud pedal. Especially that 4k one.

With my 4l60e, my truck would blast the rear tires off nearly at any speed I was running if I just mashed the pedal. When I swapped in the 4l80e the truck felt like a dog due to the higher gearing. Then I did my circle d 265mm 2600 stall and it will spin the tires pretty good, but it is still a tight converter. Pretty easy to DD with. I'm having a differential narrowed for my wheels but also having it built and 4.10 gears. I think my 3.42s are bad and I think mine will feel even better after the deeper gears. I like my stall though, was a nice addition for my supercharged truck I think.

One thing I forgot to add is that mine is a triple disc and it makes some noise at idle. I do wish I would've gone with a single disc since I don't really plan on locking it at WOT anyways.

I had a loose 2,800 rpm converter and 4.56s in my Ram, LOVED daily driving that truck. You could not keep that truck from spinning the tires through 1st and into 2nd gear. Both of my Nissan Titans had the tow package rear end gear and the factory torque converter stalled about 2,700 rpm. Really liked the way they responded as well. Driving a stock stalled 4L80E with 3.73s at the moment is pretty boring compared to a good amount of gear and stall.

I probably do not mind the stall as much because I treat my accelerator a lot like an on/off switch. Its either NO throttle, Cruise throttle for a certain MPH, Half throttle to Accelerate or WFO!

Sounds like lack of gear or lack of power to me or perhaps a problem with the torque converters stator clutch.
