got the broken bolt out but still cant get the ##** center pin out..... It looks like it is catching on one of the gears as it is mushrooming up around it. Might just have to get a torch and cut the pin on both sides so I can undo the c-clips....... anybody else have this problem before??

Not saying it’s your problem in particular, but the pin/bolt that broke off (pictured earlier) may still have the end of it stuck in cross shaft, not allowing it to come out. It is very common and you can take a drift pin and drive out the cross shaft by shattering the pin. By all means wear safety glasses when trying to shatter the pin.

I cut into the groove for the bolt and got the other half out.... I even cut the whole carrier assembly in half hoping that would take the pressure off and get it out....NO!! It must be bent really bad just befor the top and bottom gears and getting stuck in them..... gonna take a break and next step is to sawzall the 2 gears in half... that $250 the shop quoted me is sounding really REALLY goos right now.. But no I wanted to have a guy teach me the ways....

its out.... had to cut both the gears the center pin goes through in half!!! this is why you shouldn't wait until it breaks to replace the g-80... the ratcheting assembly on the backside of the pin had no teeth left at the contact point and take a look at the center pin.... I wish I woulda replaced it a year ago!!!

As mentioned the bolt holding the pin in is supposed to be longer. IT is common for it to break off and for the shaft to get stuck in there.
For any one else who might come across this there are a couple things you can do.
If you need/want to try and save whats left of the G80 you can run a drill bit through the hole were the retaining pin bolt goes and try to remove as much as possible. Then flip the carrier over so the part of the pin with the sheared off bolt is facing inside the housing. Then take a sledge hammer and a large solid punch and beat the hell out of the retaining pin so that the pin will shear off what ever is left retaining it in the carrier. As soon as that breaks free push it back just enough to flip the carrier back over and pull it out. It may bogger up the pin bore to the point were you have to twist it out with vise grips.
First time I tried to do it, I did it in reverse order and it makes things worse...

just finished it up ... just waiting on my girl to get home as I left my house keys inside along with my hptuners cable and box ..... drove it to get more brake fluid since I need to bleed them now and even though its still tuned for the 3.42's it shifts throught the gears quicker. Wont really get a feel for it til she gets home so I can tune it!!! ditch the G-80!!
