Any blown up 6L80E/90E's yet?

Have you contacted Rossler or FLT on them? They have been around in Corvette's for a bit so I'd assume there are some well built versions out there. The 6L90E built up should be more than enough.

The E38 from your TBSS will and will not work with the 6L80E. It has the capability of interfacing with the 6L80E but it does not have the parameters loaded to do so. As it sits your E38 is programmed to interface with the 4L60E. The programming would need modified to work.

That's a question I can't answer positively. I have read posts indicating that people are able to take transmission tables from a 4L80E for example and add them to the PCM of a truck originally equipped with a 4L60E using programs like HPTuners. If all else fails I don't see why you couldn't take a base tune from the HPTuners repository and do a write entire to your ECM.

I'm going to do some digging around and figure this out. I am to the point with these 4l60s, If I could get a definitive answer I would be ordering a 6l90 tomorrow. I'd love to put a T-56 in it, but I cant see a way to do that without butchering the center console.

There are an awfull lot of 4L65E and 4L70E trucks out there in the 11's and a couple here and there in the 10's. Are you making that much power that they can't be made to hold up in your truck?

its not about the 1/4 times. if that was all I was worried about, id put a 4l80 in it and be done (which is what I've done with my big Blazer). The 6 speed along with 3.42s would be perfect for a TBSS. close to the same gearing on the bottom end, and not spinning 3000 rpm on the highway.
But again, I'm not going to do it unless I can make it work and look like it was installed from the factory.

Back on topic I can tell you of two trashed 6Ls in 2500 HD Sierras. Both different drivers, same jobsite. They started slipping at about 8K miles and were done by 12K. These trucks don't really tow more then 10K lbs and only for short distances. I personally believe that the 20%+ grades they cover daily is the problem. Seems GM has not figured out how to make a trans that can hold fluid on a incline. Maybe some type of dry sump system is needed for the 6 speeds?
