I'm about to jerk the blown tranny out of the truck this weekdn and put a new one in... any little tips to make it go smoother?? how do you guys normally do it?? I have done a couple but every time I seem to run into little things that eat up tons of time.

15mm Gear wrench makes the top on easy. I cant think of anything I always miss. After the 5th 6th or 7th, I think I got it down

yep, I'm now an expert at the top bolt, the intake manifold can stay in place and everything, gear wrenches make the world a better place

1 or 2-3ft long extensions with an impact swivel works real well on the 12 o'clock bolt. Drop the rear of the tranny.

the gear wrench is by far the easiest way for the 12'0 clock bolt, the others can be done either from above or underneath. after pulling white1's tranny enough times I've come to appreciate electric fans and get nice and cozy with his 6.0L, I now just climb on in under the hood and make myself at home, beats leaning over the grille/ fender of a Z-71 on jack stands
