Default Anyone have any Tranny install tips or tricks?

Just what the title says, was wondering if anyone over the years has come up with any tips or tricks to get the transmission started on the locating studs, I can't seem to get mine started on them, and honestly, it was starting to urk me a bit. Anything other than just keep f*<king with it until it falls into place?

Floor jacks, blocks of wood, and FRIENDS.

Take your time man. Don't force **** it in there! Wouldn't want to damage the pump.

Some kind of grease or lube on the dow pins

Hope that helps man

A extra hand always helps( if they are competent). To get it start, or make like easier, I have always cleaned the **** out of the dowels, dowel holes on the trans, with a scotch brite pad.. Take your time, make sure everything is lined up RITE

I didn't mean forcing it into place, I meant move it a little bit, try to slide it forward, repeat about 800 times.

I'm lucky enough to have a trans jack, it's doing a good job of getting in my way more than helping me out though.

I may try to give them a quick cleaning with the scotch brite and a little bit of grease like f4tal suggested. I'm just getting frustrated with not having my truck, driving dad's 8.1 is kinda fun except the 9mpgs I miss mine, and I'm anxious to see what it'll do now that it's stalled

Don't listen to this guy ^^^
If you remove the pins then you run into possibly cross threading the holes on the block to mount the bell housing.

Man if you've never done it it will be a bitch and a half to get it right the first time. Its luck of the draw. with a trans jack however it should be fairly easy. you may have to tilt the motor forward or back to get the dowel pins to line up
