I probably have a taller tire than you. That's why I went with these gears. It's actually fairly equavalent to an A4 F-body with 245/50/16 running 3.73's, which is pretty common. Also I hardley ever go on the highway.

Also if I break my pinion teeth before anything else in my rear, you guys will be the first to know. I don't think the gear manufactures would make 5.57 gears for our rears if they weren't going to hold up. That's probably why they don't make anything past 4.56 for 7.5" rears.

4.56's have the same number of ring gear teeth (41) as 4.10's and one less (9) pinion tooth than 4.10's. The relationship between 4.10's and 3.73's is the same. As well as 3.73's and 3.42's. Just some food for thought.

Soquel, I didn't mean to be a dick, I was just joshing ya! It's a line from the movie My Cousin Vinny.

dude don't get 4.56, you have a RCSB 2wd lightweight truck with stock size tires, i have 4.10's and if i had to do it over i would have got 3.73's or 3.90's. my main concern is not highway cruising rpm's they are 2500 at 80 mph. The reason i would have gone with the 3.73's is traction for street racing on street tires. with my 4.10's its like if i get on it hard it just spins and shifts to second real quick then the person i'm racing just gets a huge jump start and i loose, now i know this is not the case with sticky tires but no one drives on sticky tires like et streets or something to work everyday. Plus if you even get a big stroker motor and have 4.56's you areen't going anywhere without traction, which you will have no of at all on street tires(that would be a joke!) dude don't get 4.56's is what i'm saying. seriously, just my opinion though

infact get yourself a 3k stall converter and see if you still need gears, thats cheaper ne ways. you will see when it starts getting harder to get traction my point

I have 4.56s in my 2000 silverado. I love them. My gas mileage actually got better on the street because of how much less pedal you need driving around town. I did lose about 2 on the freeway but I dont mind. The power difference is great. If I did a lot of freeway driving I wouldnt have done that but I dont. Thats why I did it. Now the only problem it has is traction...

Also thats on a 28" tire

They are nowhere near as bad as people think.

thanks for all the help guys. i plan on 4linking the rear and changing some other stuff to get better traction. i dont do any freeway driving so im not worried about that. if traction is my only issue then i will probably get the 4.56's unless someone can give me any other reasons. thanks
