Default Anyone tow with a PI stall???

My tranny guy talked to PI today and they do not recommend any towing with a PI stall, like 300 pounds maximum.

What stall can I run with 4l80e and still tow something???

I tow a 5,000lb enclosed trailer regularly with my PI Vigilante 2400 in front of an FLT 4l60E. Probably 10,000 miles towing so far. Temps stay nice and low as long as I keep it from hunting (usually in 3). I also LOVE the triple disk lockup clutch.

When I was discussing my needs with Chuck @FLT, I told him about my towing and he discussed with PI and decided on the 2400. I think I could have gone 2600 but I think anything around 3000 is not so good IMO.

FYI.......FLT did not recommend a stall above 2600 for towing.
If this helps you choose a stall. I told them I would be hauling a 6,000lbs plus boat & trailer. They recommended the PI 10.5" 3 disc with both of their Sonnax servos and their recommended Transgo shift kit designed for towing and track use. Chuck at FLT said it would keep the rpm's in the 2400-2600 range.

I think I may just keep the stock stall.

Just quoting what Chuck at FLT told me. I too am torn on what will work and what will not.
I keep hearing too many different stories! If PI told you not to tow with it, then I assume they know what they are talking about.
I don't know what to use either at this point. I know I want something more than the O.E. stall though.
It will just take a bit more research!
I'm about to PM FLT and see why he recommended that stall and why PI themselves say not too.
