Anyone use shock extenders on a 2/4 drop?

Shock extender is really a misnomer. While it does give an extra inch or so increase in travel the main function is to alleviate the bind created by the extreme angle the shock is forced to run at in a lowered application.
For a 4" drop you shouldn't need them but it wouldn't hurt anything to run them. I measured my lengths with my drop and ordered shocks accordingly; I think what I wound up with was an application for a stock Jeep CJ5.

I am running the Belltech shock extenders on my dropped Z71. I ordered them along with the 2" shackles, 2500 Keys, and Belltech front bumpstops for what I planned to be a 3/4 Drop (including removal of 2" rear block...) I was advised by Belltech that the shock extenders were recommended for 4" or more of rear Drop - @ 4", you could take them or leave them. I wanted to maintain as close to stock ride quality as possible, so I included them when ordering my parts.
FWIW, I only netted 2.5/3.25" actual Drop (...but that's another unrelated story). I installed the extenders anyway 'cause I figured they can't hurt and I already had them on hand. In addition to correcting the angle at which the shock works (moves it closer to stock angle), I measured the overall length of installed shock at static height and they lengthened the shock by < 1". I am still running the original Z71 shocks without any issues and the ride is pretty much like stock. They also decreased ground clearance by some, but not much - I wasn't able to quantify how much as I switched to a lower profile tire...
In my research of the shock extenders, I found some complained of the extender bracket itself moving in relation to the stock mount, making noise and decreasing shock performance. Some on this board remedied the situation by welding the extension brackets to the stock bracket. I haven't found this to be the case after tightening everything to the torque spec'd - but it's only been a couple months.
