I have a flip kit. I redrilled the middle leaf and slid it back instead of cutting it. I also trimed about 2-4inchea off the front of the overload spring.

This is the way to do it. Check his build thread for pics of what he did. Looks really clean and he didn't have to cut the leaf at all.

viking is my opinion on shocks… their DA is a good big less expensive than the QA1 DA and every bit as quality.

On the preload, I can tell you with my Caltracs *any* amount of preload will make your suspension so stiff as to be unbearable on the street. What I did was cut a piece of 3/4" ID heater hose (slice it length-wise) and wrapped it around the bushing that hits the leaf spring. This way I tighten just until it touches and it won't rattle.

At the track I was using anywhere from 1/2 a turn to a full turn; or typically would hand tighten then add about a 1/4 turn.

I agree on the Vikings. Just looked it up, I paid $370 for the pair, but like I said they're two different lengths.

I got my Viking shocks installed. WOW what a night and day difference. The ride quality is 120% better. I really like the adjustability i have with these shocks. Now it makes me want some info on the front coil over conversion to get rid of my stock struts.
