Default Avg. Cost for Gear Swap??

I plan on picking up some 4.10's (tired of chasing down cars/trucks I should be killing off the line), and wondered what I could expect to pay for labor to do it.

I'll supply materials and fluid.

Any reputable mechanic should be able to do it. They have to have a Bearing removal kit and press so they can remove and install the bearings.

Holy chit, that's some pretty damned good money.

I guess I'll need to think about this after the holidays....

Gears ain't cheap. When I do them on the side I still get 250-300 depending on the vehicle. Takes a lot of work to get all the clearances right and set the backlash, makes a lot of noise and can cause problems if they're off.

I was quoted $300. I'm looking at $500 total to put the 4.10s in.

Stop at some of you're local shops and get quotes that way you can get a better idea of what youre up against. I bought my 4.11s and master install kit which came with bearings and seals at Randy's ring and pinion for like 375 shipped.
