AWD-4L80 swap
As most of use know the conversion kit is out for the AWD 4L80 swap. My question is if you are pushing some major HP numbers would there be any pros or cons of putting the Alison transmission in instead? or can it not be done.
Thanks

Both FLT, speed performance have the conversion kits

I have "heard" the stock Allison isn't as strong as a built 80-e, I think it could be done. I have not got to see the tables for the Allison trans from HP tuners, there may be a problem with programming the O.S.
When I tune 4l80e converted truck (I've done more than just mine), I start with a bin file from a 6.0l 4l80e then change the engine size to whatever the truck really has (5.3, 4.8). You can't start with a 5.3 bin file and "tell" the VCM it has a 4l80e....... So unless we have the ability to change engine types (gas to diesel) like we can displacement, you will have one hell of a time convincing a VCM it has a 6.0 or 408 with an Allison, or telling the VCM it no longer has the Duramax engine. Now as I type this I'm thinking there may be options with the 8.1 and Allison trans. but like I said, I haven't seen any Allison tables yet. Maybe a stand alone controler???
Not everyone hates first gear, what did you think of it in my truck?????????

Powertrain Control Solutions is making a stand-alone controller for the Allison 1000 now. They are also working on a way of managing a 6L80-E, probably bypassing the internal controller and taking control of the solenoids externally.
The 6L80-E with an AWD case is already in Denalis and Escalades:

6L80 gear ratios: 4.02 2.36 1.53 1.15 0.85 0.67
4L60E gear ratios: 3.06 1.75 1.00 0.70
and what the 60,65,80,85,90 mean
The 90 in 6L90 stands for 900 newtons of torque or about 500ft lbs capacity. (on the 4L85 it means 850 and 650 newtons on 4L65 and the allison 1000 was initially rated at 1000 newton hence the name)
