AWD with a T56?

Default AWD with a T56?

Do they make a transfer case / adapter for the T56 so I can have some real fun, or am I bound to a shiftless lifestyle?

No, i have called everyplace i could find on the interent that makes adapter and such for Tranmssion with no luck... These places also said the highley reccomend against doing it anyways because the T56 is not designed for that kind of application.

You could do the NV4500 5-Spd but, its a truck transmission and in thus drives like one.

Damn, if I had a dollar everytime I've heard this question....

Anyway, there has been only 2 sucessful AWD T56 setups that I've heard off. One in a Syclone and one using a Syclone drivetrain in a 32 ford. Both used a lot of custom parts in light vehicles. The easiest means I see is a divorced transfer case, with a bullet proof T56 and a bad *** clutch. If you're off roading with it, then it's probably not the best choice either. First gear is only 2.66:1.

I dont mean to drudge up the past. Its entirely possible that I may remove the AWD parts, and go RWD. Currently I live in NY = winters = awd is a good thing. I may be moving to FL shortly = no winter = RWD = T56 :hooray:

So no adapters, huh? I would've figured that the demand sould be high enough for someone to produce that. If I had the money, i'd do it.

A couple of the places I talked to (including Advanced Adapters) said the main thing about doing this the T56 was that it was not designed for the weight of a truck and then added stress like AWD or 4wd just is not go for it...

I think there is quite bit of truth in that statement but, then again when i was talking to them it was about my Avalanche and she weights a hefty 5,800+lbs with a full 31 gallon tank of gas! Oh yea, add another 350+lbs for the weight of my Rims and 33"x14" Allterrain Tires!

Well, on that note, neither was the 4L60E. I mean, it does the job, but barely, so would a built T56 handle a beating from a RWD truck.

Sidenote, what is the running weight (all fluids) of an 03 AWD SSS?
