Default Axle Swap

I have a 2001 Silverado reg. cab. It started as a 4.3l V6 and I have upgraded it to a 5.3l with a Vortech Supercharger. Well...I still have my stock rear axle and I was wondering if there is a direct bolt in axle with POSI like out of a 4x4 or something that is stronger. If so, what do I need to keep an eye out for?? What gear ratio?? THANKS!

All regular half tons came with the same 10 bolt and the only "posi" that may have come in them is the G80, which really isn't worth the swap. The only axle that is going to be stronger that could sorta kinda bolt in would be either a 4x4 6 lug 14 bolt semi-floater out of a 88-98 truck or a rear out of a Vmax or VHO truck. With the NBS axle, you should be able to put it right in, but you'll be hard pressed to find one used or anywhere near cheap. With the OBS axle, you'll have to swap on your rear brakes, move the spring perches, and most likely rebuild the internals. These go for a pretty penny as well.

The best thing you could do for a reasonable price would be to buy a set of 4.10 gears, a true trac or similar type LSD, and be done with it. The 10 bolt is good for a decent amount of power with its main weak links removed. Off road however, they break fairly easily.

Thanks, that really helps me out ALOT. I didn't figure it would be something easy or cheap.
