Default Axle swap

I have a question about swapping out axles and different gear ratios between front and rears. Im looking at trying out 4.10s by getting a free axle from a friend but dont want to go through changing both front and rear axles out and not liking them. If I were to take the front driveshaft out would I be alright to run it that way to see if like them. If I do like them I could change out the front gears later to match.

I hope that this makes sense to everyone and thanks in advance for any answers

As long as you're not AWD you'll be fine.

you don't have to take the driveshaft out, just don't push the 4wd button.

Thats why if I do that I would take the shaft out just incase someone else tries to drive it and puts it in 4wd.

pull the fuse, or disconnect the 4wd buttons.
