B&M Shift Improver Kit

B&M Shift Improver Kit
Anyone out there using this basic kit? If so what are your opinions? and are you running a custom tune with TM removed?
I've heard of some issue's running a shift kit with TM, but never got a clear answer on what the problems were.
I'm just looking to improve the quality of the shifts along with possibly increasing tranny life, so any suggestions would be great. I see alot about the Transgo kit but also see alot about problems with installation, drilling holes, etc. I would really love to avoid that headache.

I first bought the B&M and before I put it in I bought a transgo. I put in the shift kit and converter last weekend and last friday it bit the dust on me. Thats a total of 5days of driving and = about 45 miles. No matter what kit you put in a tranny, If your hard on it, Then it will never last to its fullest. But if your planing on making power then beware of the 60E. Its not the best tranny in the world.

I had the hd-2 trans-go installed in my '01 5.3 4x4. I'll make it as short as i can.since that i've had it to the shop 5 times.different springs, servo, new spacer plate, computer flash it still doesn't shift right. After $800. I'm going to put everything back to stock. Trust me leave it alone! If you want alittle firmer just install a vett servo and install a big trans cooler. Good Luck

After hearing a bunch of horror stories with any shift kit, I'm going to go that route. I already have a trans cooler on its way to me, good up to 22,000 GVW. Now does anyone have any info on the Vette Servo? say vs. one of the JET Performance servo kits?

It all depends on the harshness of shift you want.
I had the B&M Transpak put in mine, and put in the RV/Towing options.
Based on Info from B&M and Summit Racing, the Street/Strip option could cause Damage to the transfer case and mounts due to it shifting too hard.
B&M kits generally shift harder than any other kit out there.
Transgo's are a softer shift, more for stock applications.
(So I have found)
Based on the firmness of shift, and if your gonna drive it every day...Id probably go Transgo too. (Mine shifts way too hard)
If your at the track - Definitely B&M. (If you don't have a Fairbanks kit laying around anywhere)
Also, the 1-2 accumulator Piston in stock 4L60E's is plastic.
These can crack, and they make an aluminum piston, cost is about 12 bucks.
Cheap insurance for no trouble down the road.
