Default backspacing on 15" wheels

ok... i know you have to grind the callipers down in order to clear the diameter of the 15" wheel.

what i want to know is...
what's the most backspacing you can have before the inboard lip of the wheel hits the calliper?

i think 4.5" would work but i would like more so they are not sticking out.

Can this be figured out with a square and measuring tape I played around with this once and came up with 6'' of bs will work the bolt that holds the brake line on is what ya got to look out for unless useing a larger (17'' or so)wheel. Maybe some one will chime in that knows more good luck.

i came up with the same thing just eyeballing with a tape measure. couldn't remember the b/s but it would have hit the calliper bolt even with the 16" rims.

i just need to take a wheel off again and do some measurements.

I think the 6 1/4'' is Max b\s with a 16'' or smaller wheel. Get ya a framing square and a ruler and get-er-done next time I have my rears off I will check unless you beat me to it.

Depends on the wheel.... You have to watch out for the drop section in the wheel rim. Look at the stock steel wheel its all the way outboard, most wheels its at center and it gets pretty close to the banjo bolt on the caliper hose when you go wider.

I am confused by what you are asking. The most backspacing for a wheel would be right around 7.5", but it would be the leaf spring and/or inner fender that would be your limitation.

The distance from the mounting plate to the front of the caliper? Like this:

On Bogarts, everyone is going with a 6.5" backspacing on these trucks. That's what backspacing I'm using for those wheels when I order them next month.

For reference, using The Breeze's wheel setup, looks exactly like where I want it to come out to.

i'm talking about the edge of the rim that's against the truck side.

see the bolt that atatches to the calliper, there is a 1" gap between the bolt and the rim. so really, you could only widen this stock 16x7 rim roughly 3/4". i can only imagin how much work it would take for a 15" rim with more backspacing to clearance.
