Default Bad leak 4l80e

I just finally got to fill my trans up and I'm on quart number 12 and I hear fluids pouring on the ground. Quick grabbed a pan and threw it under the leak. I read that it should take 14 but I have a smaller converter but I also have a derale deep pan at +4 qts. It looks like its coming from the electrical connector that goes all to the valve body. It was a little busted up from the hack that pulled it out. Is it probable that that is the leak and if so do I have to change the trans harness? Once I started it and it sucked the oil down some it stopped leaking.
Thanks

I did the same thing when I first put mine in, started leaking out of the electrical connector. When the fluid is 'full' it should be just at the top of the pan. Start the truck to let the fluid circulate and continue adding till full.

I'd replace it now, as it will probably continue to leak.

i know the fluid isnt supposed to sit that high normally. when i quick started it up it stopped right away. i didnt inspect to much because it was getting dark and was running open headers so i didnt wanna lay with my head right there haha. after searching some i see this is a pretty common issue. the connector is all busted up and doesnt really plug in too well and the pins were hanging out and bent some when i got it. i just ordered a new harness so hopefully that does it. not sure how bad yours leaked but this was a constant stream and i was worried about running at the track or parking on a hill or anything where the fluid would run back.
thanks guys

Tim I'm guessing but either the harness was replaced or the connector and the case were cleaned up. Then silicone was used to glue and seal in place. This is how most will fix an issue like this unless the oil is leaking past the pins. Then the harness must be replaced. HTH Vince
