i just did brakes on my 99 and used all NAPA's UP premuim brake rotors and the UP CMX ceramics pads, comes with everything you need to do it except for the tools.

working at napa i can tell you that the UP line of brakes are application engineered and they go throught all the varients of casing materials and even the process that the factory uses to make an above stock quality part, they even on thier pads duplicate the friction material used for stock. afterall, a scientist really did engineer the barkes for your truck in the first place. not some foundry in japan.

Your thread says best brake brand.....Hawk are probably the best replacement pads out there. If you want the best your going to have to cough up the coin. Your thread should read best brake pads on a budget not the other way around.......

The difference in price is less than the cost of a tank of gas.....if you want GOOD brakes you have to spend a little bit of money (I understand the budget thing....but safety and performance outweight price in my world)

I like when people don't read the actual thread, they just start to make assumption.

How much does it cost you to fillup you truck, for me and most of the other people on here it cost more than $60. But back on the subject, he is not looking into a budget thing but more of availability, can you buy Hawks at OReilly's, Autozone, Napa, Carquest or any other parts store, not that I am aware of, I know you can get them from Summit and other online places. If you start to talk about budget parts, spend a day in Autozone behind the counter and try to convince a person buying the $10 brake pads into buy $50+ brake pads, not such an easy task, nearly impossible. But don't get me wrong Hawks are very good, so are Raybestos, if you compare the ceramic pads I bet they are going to be close in comparison.

I was going to say Hawk as well. Depending on where or who you buy them from will depend on cost.
If not Hawk, then use Carquest's Raybestos Gold series pads. They are ceramic and have seen very good results from them.
I work in an automotive facility and have noted that they are one of the best pads available from a parts store that will not break your wallet.
Autozone and O'reilleys pads don't compare.
The Raybestos Gold series pads will not leave black brake dust, won't squeek, and out last most of the other brands.
I would have to say NAPA's Gold series pads come in next for quality and price.
We deal with Carquest, NAPA, Dealership Parts Departments, O'Reilleys, XL Parts, and Autozone. They are listed in order that we would prefer to buy from.
The Hawk, Thermo Quiets (O'Reilley's Premium pad), and O.E. pads are the only ones I have personal use from. I have to say at least this, the Thermo Quiet didn't last but 20,000mi and put a lot of black brake dust on my wheels! I don't recommend them.
My vote goes to the Carquest Gold Series Pads.

Jim
