I assumed that when ProStreet83C10 said "best brake brand" that he meant "best brake brand" and was open to suggestions. I DID read the whole post and chose not to comment on the other brake brands because I have no knowledge of them (I've always used Hawk or NAPA Golds), I understand that people are on a budget (why do you think it's taken me over two years to put together a twin-turbo system....) but in my opinion there is no such thing as a " budget brake pad", if you buy cheap brake pads you get lousy braking performance...and THAT is not something I'm willing to chance, EVER

I have used the Bendix pads before with stock replacement rotors... they feel like stock brakes... I guess because they are. no complaints though. I have drill/slot brembos with Hawk pads now and I love them but I understand the budget thing as well... the Bendix's have always worked well for me.

well the rotors and pads im looking at atre raybestoses "brutestop" rotor and pad, they are made for performance vehicles and the rotor is drilled/slotted, i just think that for now, that will do me well enough until i can save up and get something better. its not like i have an 11 second truck that goes 130 mph. i kjust want something that looks decent behind the wheel and performs decent with the speeds im running (approx.90 mph)

those should do you just fine man... esp if the are drill/slot... the most important part is the hoses IMO.. you could go back with OEM parts and just get braided hoses and dramatically decrease your stopping distance.

Have you ever tried a true "performance" brake pad ??, they are completely different in braking response and distance compared to a upgraded stock-style pad.....I used to stop a 4800lb truck in 114' using Hawk pads and SSBC stock-size vented rotors, that's shorter than a corvette can do it, and for the entire front (pads/rotors/calipers) I paid less that $500 and $350 of that was replacement stock calipers because I needed new ones....for ~$150 you can get a front braking system that will lift you out of the seat under hard braking

I say for the price comparison, i.e. the Raybestos parts you're thinking of vs a SSBC big brake kit. I would go SSBC for under $300. I don't really know how much the Raybestos parts are, but when I checked, the rotors were over $150 each, but this was over a year ago. SSBC kit includes high performance pads, slotted rotors and bearings/seals. I thought of that set-up for an upgrade on my '86, YearOne offers it out of their free catalog. I'm just throwing an suggestion out there.
