Best Frame paint for the North
Hi guys I did some searches on the forum and couldn't quite find what I wanted, But im basically wondering what frame paint is the best for stopping rust? Por-15 seem like a good option and I would rather not have to repaint every year. Thanks.

I also live in the Rust Belt... I like to use POR-15 or one of the other similar products (Rustoleum makes one, seems like one of the auto paint supply brands also has one) and then chassis or marine paint. Implement paint sounds like a good choice as well. I think the priming is probably more important than the top coat.

It works pretty well; as well as anything can. Hard to really be 100%; after all, we are dealing with RUST. If there was any kind of foolproof solution to it you can be tevery navy in teh world would be ALL OVER it.
Prep is EVERYTHING when it comes to any kind of coating. Paint, ceramic, powder, whatever. Any of the rust-incorporating paints need the loose flaky stuff knocked off. They can deal with a limited amount of surface rust, they don't require fresh virgin metal, but once the rust gets going good, gotta get at least close to metal for it to work. Won't ANYTHING stick to loose flakes that are about to fall off on their own anyway,

Yeah I found por 15 useless. Followed their instructions and prepped with their wash and whatnot and then did the spring shackles and rear rails of my 05 sierra. 2years later you couldn't tell I had done anything and it all fell off.... Rustoleum spray paint snd no prep lasts just as long or longer.
