Default Best gear for 4l80e

I just swap in 4l80e a month ago running like a raped Ape.with the stock gears, it's a lot sluggish now with cam i have in the 5.3. From dead stop to bout 40ish it's a bout a dog, sluggish as hell.. I know I need a stall big time money not right yet, and still have decided on what stall I wanting. But I know if I swap out them 3.23s would help alot.

What tire size are you running and how fast do you want to go and what's the weight of your truck? I run a 285/60/18 tires that are 31.5 inches tall... I went with 4.56s on mine.. It runs around 2300@ 60 mph if I remember correctly.. I went to a lower gear because it's a 2500 crew cab 4x4.. It's heavy and the 4l80 has a tall first gear.. I don't do roll racing on the highway or anything. Just a friendly drag race from time to time. If you run a shorter tire or do a lot of hwy driving, you should take a look at 4.10 or 3.73.

Daily tires are 245/65/17. Cousin and I have 3.73 and 4.56s laying around. But I drive it on the highway sometimes i don't think 4.56s going to cut it.lol trying to make up my mind don't wanna keep doing gear changes. I have a 06 Silverado rcsb cammed 5.3 might weight somewhere +/- 4000lbs

That weight with 3.73s you should be fine.... Going to a stall to fit your cam after that should put you in a good place.... Keep in mind I'm no expert but I think that would be a nice Street set up.

Why would you put a 4l80 behind a cammed 5.3?

Why does almost everyone on the site has 4l80e? Because they hold power, I don't feel like pulling tranny out every year. Plus my 5.3 is strong little bitch! Getting everything done first I want done to the truck first, then when I have extra money to do a 6.0, but that might be next year is yet all depends on the boss lady.lol

n/a 5.3 doesn't have close to the power to turn the 4l80, hence why you now have a dog.

To answer your original question, I would get 4.10s minimum.

Lol, in time brandon.lol I don't think it's the 5.3 Why it's so sluggish, I really think it's the 3.23s cruising around not bad at all, but when you get on it takes little bit get moving, pass 34-3600 it's a freight train! Dead stop to about 35-40mph slow! When I get that fix I worry bout converter
