I am by no means a "Truck God", I have however messed with enough **** to know that burnt fluid is no good and is a result of heat damage. Search the forums and look at the #1 killer of a 4l60, its heat. Why do you think people put 40k coolers on stock trucks? When you go over 200*F its not good, when you go hot enough for the dash warning light to come on your fucked, maybe not right then, but its a matter of time.

Am I saying his transmission is totally fucked...no. Do I think its damaged....yes, Do I think its driveable with just a fluid change....maybe, Would I invest a shift kit and a brand new coverter in it......hell no. At least not without freshening it up.

your looking to see if you have any grooves or nicks in the bushing if so you'll need to replace it.

I was Going to but every shop i talked to said the 4L80 will actually hurt performance if you don't have enough power.. I will have about 500-520 rwhp after this next round of mods and I probably won't be going much higher than that for a while. I'm getting a fully built 70 built for 700hp so I should be ok. Maybe it's different for a TBSS cause only TBSS's with big power are runnin a 80 but i see alot of guys on here runnin it with alot less power..

The trans I am talking about is the 4l80e I purchased from an auto shop.
My current trans a 4l65e has pretty red fluid and it has aout 46k miles
