Brake freeze up ?
OK, it's not a truck but I have a ? On my wifes 00 Pontiac Montana the left rear brake is locked up. It worked fine when she went into the store but when she came out and tried to move it was dragging the tire. I tried to "rock" it to brake it loose but it's still stuck. It's about 18 degrees out and I was wondering if it could be froze somehow? Does anyone know if there is an adjustment slot on the backing plate? I know a lot of the newer vehicles don't but I hope it does so maybe I can back it off to get it loose. Any ideas?
Thx.

I would imagine that they are drum brakes. I would not think that calipers would freeze up like that. I would think that it is the self adjuster. But in order to check that you have to pull the drum off and if it pulling the tire than it is going to be a bit%h to get it off. I sometimes would have to stick a screw driver behind the drum with another holding the adjuster back (in order to allow the self adjuster to untighten) and lossen the brakes. I would imagine that it would be that. But then again I have never done one of those vehicles.
