In the rust belt states drums just hold up better than GMs crappy disc design on the 99-04 trucks. There is a reason besides cost that GM went back to rear drums in 05. Thats why tons of trucks up here the parking brakes don't work because the pads rusted off. Rotors rust horribly then they don't clean off because the rears don't do enough braking force to effectively clean them.
