Default BRAKES? Help pls...

OK...currently have Hawk pads squeezing Powerslots and braided lines on my 04 Avv 4wd. Pads are shot and rotors are running out of miles, so now might be the time to switch the system out. I need to know what fits inside 20's, WHATS BEST, BEST DEALS? Do I just change rotors and calipers or do u need to change the whole system? Thnx R/

I have the SSBC 14" rotor/3 piston caliper system front, and rear, and love it. They're not cheap, but much more reasonable than the other options, and stop MUCH better than the factory set up. They fit inside my 18" Centerlines, and obviously my 20" SS wheels.

These were my first thot too...how much? Can I fit bigger (do they make bigger?) rotors inside 20's? How tough is the install? Just bolt on and bleed? I was also wondering if the TBSS system wud fit? Those actually work very well, and wud be a cheaper option maybe. R/

You can get the system for around $1500 for the front, and $1500 for the rears. You go bigger then 14" rotors, and the price goes thru the roof. Personally............I wouldn't try to engineer a set from another vehicle, go with a system that is designed for your truck. The install was simple, and fronts even come with braided stainless lines. You would have to get a set of matching rear lines. There's other options out there, but they're hugely expensive, and/or much more hassle . Check out SSCS's site, they may have an option for bigger rotors, although I don't know why you'd need anything bigger.

I like the wilwood setup, just don't have the money for it. I know they are 6 piston front and 4 piston rear calipers, and I think 16" rotors front and like 13" rear. Something like $2500 for the front and another $1500 for the rear.

You also have the ssbc stuff like above, and the baer alumasport kits as well. The baer kits are like $1300 each f/r and have 2 piston calipers with 14" rotors

Ya...saw this. I already have the Powerslot rotors and braided lines. They're better than stock, but still nowhere near what the TBSS is, and miles behind the Porsche...I'd honestly like to find something in the middle if I have to spend the cash. R/

I would highly recommend the SSBC stuff. GREAT kit, easy to install, and stops great. On any late model truck, ALWAYS get the "Auto Bleed Procedure" done by a dealer when you're finished. They have to bleed the ABS module with a TechII, and WHAT a difference!!

Hmm...just a programming thing, or any wrenching involved?

With the "ABS Module bleed procedure", it is all done with the TechII. It does something with the ABS module after you mechanicily bleed the brakes. PM supersub, he went thru all this too, after doing the monster Baers all the way around.
