Default Broke My Performabuilt Level 2!!!!!

hey guys just took the truck out today and ended up blowing 1st and 2nd gear out of my performabuilt level 2 4l60e. I have been having some issues in the last few weeks with towing and such, with it sticking in gear, and falling out once in a while. I got on it a bit today and wham, a very loud grinding and whinding noise. 1st and 2nd are done, 3rd and 4th seem fine. Mods are a lq9 with a mild cam with full exhaust. I am really surprised that this tranny with only a year and a few months only lasted this long. It has only 8-9000 miles on it max. What a waste of money this was. torque converter was a P.I. TBTC 2600 stall converter. Anyone else have any issues with their performabuilt trannys

cory

My level 3 has taken ALOT of abuse. No issues so far. Even with the procharger. I have a looser TC and alot more gear so its a little easier on the trans.

im not sure what exactly happened. The motor maybe...makes 400 horse at the engine, i pull a flat bed trailer with my chevy colorado show truck on it. It should of handled that setup no problem. I had a larger trans cooler than what came with the truck from the factory. I could of put a larger 34'' rad with a pair of electric fans on it i guess to keep it cooler. It doesnt get that hot up here in canada though. not sure what im gonna do now, new 4l60 or just bite the bullet and swap the 4l80e

A 4l80 with a shift kit would be real nice. Especially if you tow a lot.

Sounds like you got a lemon. Everyone gets a bad part every once in a while...I've seen those transmissions take a ton of abuse. Joey's level 2 lived behind his 5.3 on 14psi for a while. **** happens

I have not had one issue with mine, it has lived 3 years behind a boosted full bolt on 6.0. Of course I am a little lighter then you. Did you have any kind of trans cooler? Sucks it took a ****, but like said some last longer then others.

what size trans cooler are you using? Ive had great results with my trucool 40k. Used new ss braided lines and bypassed the radiator. Trans temps rarely go over 180. and its about 105 around here.

I had the same issue with my performabuilt. 1 $400 tow ride and $250 ship for warranty work was enough for me. I built my own 80e and swapped it in and i have been happy ever since.

i learned the first go round with a 60E if you have a built trans its best to up the line size the little things will help it survive the worse conditions

i used to run 2 coolers in series to each other, then Ben found me a large enough cooler to replace the 2 smallers one
