Neither have I. They have all been within the recommended 1/16-3/16.

What were the measurements when you installed the converter?

Cardboard measures 1/8 so if slids in no shims needed.

That spacing looks good. Looks like you paid good attention to detail on the install so I'm going to assume the converter was appropriately fully seated on the input shaft.

If there was some issue with the crankshaft or transmission which caused the flex plate failure, I can't imagine it wouldn't have manifested in some other way. The fact that it also did it with both the 60e and 80e also makes me think more of a limitation of the flexplate.

I don't make a whole lot of power.. I just thought/assume a sfi flexplate would hold up.. It's been in the truck for 4 years.. I heard their only good for 3-4 years anyway.

Are you certain you don't have a damaged dowel pin on the back of the block? What does the snout of the converter look like? Is the bushing in the pump beat up or out of round? Are you using all the bolts to mate the tranny to the engine? Just throwing things out there.

When you have the sex plate off, you might want to put a dial indicator on the crank just to make sure it is flat and true. Make sure there is no left over threadlocker between the surfaces. I would pay close attention to the holes in the flex plate and see if the threads were leaving indentations causing stress.

In the future I would use a drill bit to measure, its a lot more reliable than a piece of cardboard.

I still think there is an underlying problem, maybe with the crank itself. I wonder how your thrust bearing in the engine looks.

Do u have any type of vibrations? When your breaking the flexplates what is happening? Stress crack around inside bolt pattern?
