Yes, but in my Camaro it is D, then I have OD, but in the trucks IDK, just try to stay in 3, not OD was my point

And yes the D or 3 position in a camaro will apply the overrun clutch pack to help support the srag.

The 1, and 2 postions should apply the overrun clutch pack and the forward pack to fully support the sprag. so launch in 3 and let the computer shift for you

When placed in OD or 4th gear it will only apply the forward pack, what this does is transmits all power from the clutch pack to the sprag then then sun gear,

the 1-2 shift is the hardest load on the sprag, placing it in D or 3 will help this issue

The reason the overrun is no applied in the OD position is because the sun gear spins faster then the outer race in OD or 4th gear

Anyone ever looked into the 6pinion planets from PATC? They're spendy but they're also quality billet material and claims to pick up around .3 in a car that's already in the 9s... Supposed to change the gear ratios to make 1st and 2nd much close and make geared more like a 4L80E.... Again, not a cheap upgrade, but I think it's worth looking into for those kinda of gains...

Do yourself a favor and spend the extra dough on the billet shafts, seen way too many pics of factory and hardened shafts shattered to smithereens

by "billet" do you mean 300m shafts? I don't know if 300m is billet or not, but I think those are the ones to have.

The 6 pinion planetary from PATC is for the front planet and sun gear, I would still get the 5 pinion rear planetary

You can tell what a shaft is made of when it breaks, and yes even a 300m shaft has broke before but VERY rare. When one of these break it looks like someone sawed it straight down flush. Others it looks like you twisted a piece of playdoe.
