Default Built 6l80e or 4l80e swap?

Hey guys! I got a 2012 Silverado 1500 4x4 with the 6.2 that's supercharged, headers, cam, 3400 stall multi disk converter and meth injected making 598/592 and don't see the stock 6l80 lasting too long yet so just trying to get some info from you guys how the built 6l80's hold up? They seem to all be very pricey... Close to $7k fully built they claim to 1200hp. Where you can get a built 4l80 for close to half of that... Has anyone swapped in a 4l80 and got the cluster reprogrammed or got the manual mode to work? Thanks guys

Personally stick with 6l80

And a proper built 80 isnt cheap now granted there are some fly by night trans builders building 80s budget but they dont last for money spent

A 6l80 in stock form will handle your 600rwhp all day everyday with correct tune

Stick with the 6l80.... Youd have more wrapped up in harnesses tuning etc getting the 4l80 in than youd spend on a mildly built 6l80...

My trans doesn't seem to like the power I'm at now. Sure it could be the tune but it's dyno tuned by a good shop here... And they sell 6l80 to 4l80 conversion harness and tcm. I called circle d trans and they get $7000 for their built 6l80 and I have to ship mine down to them for them to build. I'd just hate to spend that kinda money if the 4l80 will last longer. Seems the 6l80 likes to eat clutches...

They fail cause of tune

Dyno tune means squat as you need to road test and tune that trans

I speak from experience

What have you pushed through a 6l80? And they do a dyno tune then take it out and do a street tune also. I do like the 6 speed but the fact that not many people build them and not many fast cars keep them scares me... But all the help is appreciated on the decisiom!

Ya I don't tow heavy too often. Mostly four wheelers and boat. And I'm on 33's. It does run good and I like the trans but I already want more but I don't think the trans will like it...

If i had fear i wouldnt of done this much work to truck...

Key is tune and you can not tune a 6spd like a 4 spd
