Default Burnt trans fluid but tranny shifts fine?

My buddy at work has a 99 GMC Seirra he has a Rock On trans in it i forget what level and it keeps burning fluid?
It shifts and drives perfectly fine but the fluid keeps getting worn and dirty/brown looking about every 5k or so. He had a full flush done then he dropped the pan a couple times and refilled but same thing.
I don't think it has even been 5k this time and now his fluid is dirty and burnt looking.
What would cause that? It drives like normal but keeps burning up fluid....

Does the fluid smell burned? Is is a mud truck? Pieces in the pan? Could we get some pics of the fluid maybe?

It's a street truck lowered 4/6 so it sees zero off roading, never found any material in the pan when he dropped it both times.
Can't get a pic cause i don't have the truck it's my buddies from work.
The fluid looks like a dark brown, not sure what burned fluid smells like...my trans always break within 10k miles lol.

does he have a big stall in that trans? Maybe the converter is not locking and creating a lot of heat in the trans.

It has a Yank 3000 but it locks just fine and his temps have never been higher than 180degrees.
The fluid being bad so often/fast is really confusing to me since the trans acts as if nothing is wrong other than that.

I believe it is dex III whatever FLT recommends which is the napa brand fluid.
It's not a FLT tranny just running the fluid Vince recommends for em.
