Busted Output Shaft
I bought this transmission to learn how to rebuild them and just to see how they work. I knew something was broken but I didn't know what.... I was on a mission.
I love doing this kind of stuff.
I think this might have something to do with it.

Any time you have a shaft break you should always replace the planets. The reason for this is the shock the drive line takes damages the bearings. The planets have bearings in them and also the pinion gears have needle bearings in them. I have actually taken apart planets to confirm this. Do not take a chance and just throw them away along with every bearing in the trans. Also the low roller and the input sprag might show signs of damage from the shock. In most cases when we see a failure like this we pretty much throw the whole trans away and start over. Vince

Yea, the planets feel pretty hard to turn... Like they get stuck in certain spots. I just attributed it to bits and pieces stuck in there.
The case doesn't appear to be cracked.
How much is a complete case worth?
I haven't decided if I am gonna try to build and use it. I mostly just got it for a learning experience.
I've been looking at 4l80e's lately so this might give me a good excuse. Problem is, I have 3.23s and I don't plan on changing them.
