Troy always takes care of me and I am sure they retail for more than $50 a piece......I have always gotten good prices from cutten customs, of course I have been dealing with them for over 6 years.
They are awesome shocks. They were a bit rough at first but after a few hundred miles it is like they 'broke in' and the ride has been sweet ever since.
The nylon strap I was talking about are the straps they put on the rear shocks to keep them compressed during installation. When you cut them to let the shock expand be prepared with bolt in hand It is a bitch to try and compress them again.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE SHOCKS......no matter where you buy them.

FYI - Tenneco owns Monroe and Rancho along with a few other automotive brands. Tenneco
I have not bought aftermerket shocks in years so I cannnot help much with that. I think that the last shocks I bought were adjustable Konis' and definately for handling not ride concerns.
I have read quite a few good reports on Monroe Sensa-Tracs for ride comfort.

I Have Bilstiens and they are not the Suburban smooth ride your looking for. It rides like a biga$$ Mercedes, Kinda stiff but they suck up what ever terrain I Go on. I Like them allot. $259. if you cut the staps you can let the axle all the way down, where it stops is where the shocks top out, then they slip right in.
