Caltrac Owner Opinions/Reviews/Testimonies

In regards to earlier posts in this thread by some members, I also questioned Calvert Racing about the materials used to produce Cal-Tracs.
This is the reply I received:
This is the reply I received:
The heims are carbon steel, the plates are mild steel, and the link is 4130 chromoly. We havent had any failures with any component on our traction bars with the array of applications that we sell to, ranging from 1,800+ hp race cars and 1,100+ tq turbo diesels. The heims supplied in the kit have a radial load of over 18,000 lbs which is over ten times what the bars might apply. The only area that has a possibility to fail are the threads between the link and the heim and this would only be if jam nuts are absent, or loose. This would cause it to work the threads and eventually, with time, cease. When used correctly, there is no chance of failure. We can supply higher grade heims upon request, but an additional charge would apply.

That "some members" looks like it's directly in reference to me. Nice to know you can get an upgraded heim with their bars though. The ones supplied are pretty cheap. Good to see the bars are 4130 and not mild. I'd personally run some NHBB rod ends and be done, but I tend to go more overkill than most. It's all in the details.

I couldn't remember nor did I look back to see who had mentioned the materials. I just remembered that someone did and someone else had agreed and then went on to mention the use of moly for the rod.
The rod already being moly and the ability to upgrade the ends was all I wanted to point out.

not trying to interject myself into anyones positives or negatives here but I'd like to relay an experience I just had. The threads on the driver rear bar did in fact seize on mine. (I had never seen this thread before just now) I literally used a vise, 4ft breaker bar and a pipe wrench on the heim in hopes of salvaging the bar (which I didn't). I REALLY thought since the bars had been on for a year and a half or so, I was gonna have to BEG to get a relacement at a reasonable (less than entire kit) price. Response after taking my customer info was, "Replacement will arrive Thursday." I was blown away with the service. With the exception of the last 3 threads or so (that tore the threads out of the bar) the heim survived with little evidence of the beating it took from 48" of breaker bar.
