It's not pulling down on the truck, it can't, it's just pushing against the front of the spring and the cantilever pushes on the spring so it has something solid to push against. Think of it like this, if your sitting in a chair with your feet off the ground and you put your hands on the bottom of the front of the chair and pull up. Does the front of the chair get lighter? Nope. Same principal. All caltracs do it prevent the axle from twisting.

thats not all they do lol they arent pushing on the spring they are pushing on a soild bushing that is presses into the spring that is infact bolted to a perch.the bolt ties the soild bushing to the frame via the perch and therefore is lifting on the frame just like a ladder baralso like the drawings the guy wants to make his if he adds one more hole to the front bracket to lower the front hole lower he can make the bar vitually as long as he wants by moving the instant center like in a ladder bar or even a 4 link setup.the lower the bar the longer the chassis thinks the bar is see what im saying now. as for the lightning guys swearing by them .....they drive fords come dude lol

the little bar would on top of the spring serves 2 purposes on it helps hold the bracket and 2 you can add preload to each side of the truck like a coilover shock.thats why your suposse to put the exact weight in the driver seat during setup to keep the truck handling correctly and so you can evenly disribute the weight applied by the lifting motion of the chassis as compaired to the squating of the truck.think about this the harder and faster the rear of the truck squats against the lifting motion of the caltracs the more weight that is applied to the tires during launch.

like i say if ya want to make the test equal make your front mounting hole a little lower. draw an imaginary line from your bottom mount to where the long bar will attach and make the front mount low enough to where the caltrac lays in the imaginary line perfectly and they should both work identical except you wont have the flex in the short bars as you will in the long bar.

I like your suggestion! that way it would be more of a equal comparison.
And make another set of bars that are longer and bolt to the frame further up..

Shiochmetric gave me a good idea for a ladder bar... Basically a Dual "Panhard" setup, similar to the Fbody cars. but 2 of them attached to a crossmemeber with a "shackle" up front so the suspension wont bind up.
