Can the 4L70 handle no TM?

I think for the most part you are correct, but as of yet, no one has found out exactly what changes were made to the 65E to make a 70E.

The changes from 60E to 65E are well-known, and they're documented right here.

From what I gather, the only different part is the input drum. I have heard that the unit holds more fluid and handles higher temps.

I've heard the input shaft is heat-treated or somehow upgraded, haven't heard anything about the input drum.

That thing about more fluid...curious how that's possible if the outside dimensions are the same as the 65.

have you messed with your PCM on your TBSS? Remove the TM?

No, but there is a company in Michigan tuning TBSS's and doing work in the ECU as well as the TCU. I haven't decided which way I will go yet, canned tune or HPT/EFI. I want this vehicle to be something I'm not going to be messing with all the time.

From what I understand the 70E is a OK place to start. You have less weight than I.....delete that TM and get yourself whatever shiftkit comes out.
