cant believe my 4l60e is still working
Ive had my truck for almost 2 years now and all i would haul was my jetski, no big deal but recently i bought a 20ft trailer and ive been hauling my 2005 full wight single cab to the track twice, and yesturday a friend called his truck broke down 2 hours from my house, its a 2005 crewcab tundra with the camper full of tools and equipment and he was in the mountins, i had to haul big hills and i gave my truck hell like never before
i could have used more power but the 4l60e took it great, im just wondering if tune wise i could change anything to make it last even longer, if i´ll keep hauling like this i wana do anything possible to keep this 60e together, i attched the hp tuners files (stock and moddified), i once did a couple of steps i was recomennded on the tune but am wondering if anyone has any other ideas to make it even safer tune wise
On my shopping list:
40k Trans cooler
Transmission temperture gauge
-steps i already did: HPTUNERS: How to squeeze some quick power out of fbo, stock chevys.
My combo:

170k LQ4, 4l65, tow an 8k lb travel trailer, with 6 people in the truck. the key is to use a 40k GVW tru cool trans cooler, vette servo, a tune, and always keep it in 3rd with tow haul mode. Also changing the oil once every season keeps it clean.
I noticed that if I put it in D while pulling heavy trailers the line pressures cause the fittings to leak at the radiator.

bought the truck with 96000 miles no idea if they ever changed fluid, i know i never have and has 111000 miles now, if i did a rebuild in a transsmission i would change fluid every so many miles but a tranny that probably has never had a fluid change with a lot of miles i rather keep the same fluid in, im to scared i will flush the clutched out changing it lol

I'm at 263K on my 2001 Yukon XL 4x4. Its starting to leak around the rear main and was getting ready to replace it, thought about swapping it out for a salvage yard 4L65e, but its a daily driver, I never tow anything but a little bike trailer, and I do a lot of highway driving. I change the fluid every 45 to 50K and it seems to do ok. Should I swap it when I have the rear main replaced or just see how far it will go? Looks like I'm looking at around $900 to do the rear main, cam sensor o-ring, and a water pump.

Thats a lo of miles, im no expert here but i dont think the 65 is stronger then the 60, if u wana swap transsmissions i would go to a junkhard and get a working 4l80e and install a transgo shift kit wish isnt a direct swap but its a really good transsmission
then again if u dont race or really tow maybe i would just fix the leak, 4l60e isnt the best transsmission for towing or performance but for a stock daily there good imo
