Cant decide
Ive got a 2001 silverado with a 5spd. Its peg legged. I want something that will for sure spin both tires, whether it be a locker or a lsd. I dont know what to get. I just dont see how an lsd will spin both wheels when i dump the clutch. I thought they were for just easing into the throttle. I drive the truck a lot and i dont know how bad lockers are on ujoints and how bad everyday driving is with them. I do know that i DONT want a clutched lsd. I want all gears. So if anybody has any advice please post it. I gotto do something. thanks virgil

You can look into the Detroit truetrac, its a geartype locker like the Torsen rear used in the Camaros and Firebirds. just look how beefy it is compared to the stock carrier.

I had a Powertrax lock rite locker and have broken 3 of them. They ate the axles splines, added huge amounds of drivetrain lash, and made death noises whenever I pulled into a parking spot. Giving the truck any throttle around corners made terrible noise. I have a friend who also had a Lock rite in a manual trans rcsb Vortec350 and it was even worse in his truck because the manual trans provided mire engine braking than the automatics do. I am surprised that Powertrax even offers these still.
I am running teh G80 now, but my next traction aid will be teh Detroit truetrac.
