Default Can't get converter out of trans

I pulled my trans out to send back for warranty and the converter is stuck in it. It will bottom out on the pump but will only come back out 1/4-1/2 an inch then hangs up on something. Turning the converter, it sounds like something clanking/flopping around in there.

A little background on the trans... It's a stage 5 4L65 with all the bells and whistles only about 3 months old. Every thing was great till going to work one morning. I casually left a red light and on the 1-2 shift it just free reved. No bang, pop, clank, nothing... just free reved. After that there were no forward or reverse gears but park still held. The converter is a Fuddle 9.5" HP Truck converter.

Would a broken input shaft cause the converter to hang up like that or is my converter fubar?

yup EXACTLY what mine did. I put a pry bar in there and it popped loose. I have to sand down the shaft on the tc cause it was gaulded up from the pump but no damage to the tc.

Question

Could the converter possibly come apart inside? Like the vaines and fins inside it?

The pump makes sense due to the way it went out and the symptoms afterward. I may try to go pry it out this afternoon.

Mine went out exactly like yours did last week while in Texas, Found out the Torque Converter hub broke which in turn killed the pump.
